07/14/2018 Horizontal Stabilizer – Deburred and Dimpled Holes (4 Hours)
First I finished deburring the holes on the skins.
Then I started dimpling the holes on those skins. The horizontal stabilizer skin of course is much much bigger than the practice kit that I had played with previously, so it took me a little time to figure out how to insert it into the DRDT-2 dimpler. It took me even longer time to figure out which holes I should use the DRDT-2, which holes I should use the pneumatic squeezer. After finishing the skins, I also dimpled both the front and rear spars before calling it a night as it’s getting close to 12am.
Dimpling these real airplane parts is not as convenient as dimpling the small parts in the practice kit, so it’s taking a lot more time than I expected. But I was definitely getting faster and faster in dimpling these parts as I sorted things out in the process. Now I only have the some ribs that I need to dimple, then I’ll start deburring the edges and priming the parts.
