06/09/2018 Horizontal Stabilizer – Ribs Fluting and Flange Faceting Removal (2 Hours)

This is my first time experience in fluting so it took me about an hour to finish the first rib. I guess the biggest challenge is the fact that I’m not quite sure how much fluting is enough so it’s a lot of checkings back and forth to verify if the holes are lined up in a straight line and if the flanges are 90 degrees to the web after fluting. After reading the books and watching the videos, I was still not quite sure about if I was doing it correctly so I also sent a few photos to Shawn Li who had built the RV-7 before to get another confirmation that everything I did is OK.

The other rib prepping  task I started today is shape deburring the flanges to remove faceting. This is a very simple task of deburring the flange with a file at an angle, but very time consuming to on every flange of the ribs.
